Since its premiere on 10 October 2024, this story of growing up, love and loss has won numerous festival awards and recognition from professional juries and audiences across the region.<br \/>The production was co-produced by the Little Theatre Du\u0161ko Radovi\u0107\u00a0 and the Gorgone Association, with Olivera Kecojevi\u0107 as producer. The novel was translated into Serbian by Suzana \u017divkovi\u0107 and Zorica Jankovi\u0107, adapted for the stage by Tijana Grumi\u0107, and directed by Damjan Kecojevi\u0107, who also devised the stage movement. The creative team includes set designer Zorana Petrov, costume designer Aleksandra Lali\u0107, composer Adde Huumonen and theatre director Bojana Lazi\u0107, who designed the lighting.<br \/>Jenna is portrayed at different ages by Mina Nenadovi\u0107, Julija Petkovi\u0107 and Marta \u0110urica. The cast also includes An\u0111ela Alavirevi\u0107, Nevena Ko\u010dovi\u0107, Mladen Lero, Filip Stankovski, Sun\u010dica Milanovi\u0107, Jelena Ili\u0107, Jovana Cvetkovi\u0107 and Lana Ad\u017ei\u0107 \/ Jelena \u0106uruvija \u0110urica.<br \/>Johanna Thydell wrote the novel at the age of nineteen, drawing on her own experience of her mother\u2019s illness and death. In 2003, the book received Sweden\u2019s prestigious August Prize in the children\u2019s and young adult literature category. The stage adaptation preserves the story\u2019s emotional complexity, making room for both humour and grief, and for closeness and misunderstandings between generations. It speaks to young people navigating the challenges of growing up, while also reminding adults of their own youth and offering a different perspective on their children\u2019s experiences.<br \/>At the heart of the story is Jenna, a girl whose everyday life revolves around school, friendships, first love and insecurities, alongside the reality of her mother\u2019s serious illness. Her need to belong among her peers coexists with her fear for someone she loves. It is within this intertwining of experiences that the production creates space to talk about feelings that are often difficult to put into words.<br \/>The production\u2019s festival journey has brought awards for best production, stage adaptation, direction and acting. At the 20th Pozori\u0161te Zvezdari\u0161te Festival, it won the Grand Prix and the Children\u2019s Jury Award, while Tijana Grumi\u0107 received the award for stage adaptation and Mina Nenadovi\u0107 was honoured for her portrayal of Jenna. At the 33rd Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children, it received the award for best overall production and first prize from the Jury of the City of Kotor, alongside awards for Damjan Kecojevi\u0107\u2019s direction and Mina Nenadovi\u0107\u2019s performance.<br \/>At the FAS Festival in Zrenjanin, it was named best production by both the participants\u2019 jury and the educators\u2019 jury. At the Days of Jurislav Koreni\u0107 Festival in Sarajevo, it won the Avaz Dragon Award for best overall production and the Audience Award. At the International Theatre Meetings in Br\u010dko, Julija Petkovi\u0107 and Mina Nenadovi\u0107 received the Best Actress Award for their portrayals of Jenna, while Sun\u010dica Milanovi\u0107 was named Best Young Actress for her role as Jenna\u2019s mother.<br \/>The 50th performance comes in the year in which Radovi\u0107 Evening Stage celebrated its 40th anniversary. Damjan Kecojevi\u0107, the production\u2019s director and artistic director of the Little Theatre Du\u0161ko Radovi\u0107, established a new programming direction for the stage, grounded in contemporary theatre practice, freedom of expression and the exploration of boundaries. As a place for dialogue, exploration and discovery, Evening Stage makes room for its audiences\u2019 dilemmas, silences and unspoken thoughts. \u201cIn the Ceiling the Stars Are Shining\u201d has helped define this direction, bringing different experiences and generations together through theatre that encourages freedom of thought and opens up new
