The idea for the play “Swindlers” derived from the short story "Two Coins" from the collection of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić. The play “Swindlers”, like any other work of art meant to last, avoids direct pedagogical tone, despite addressing primarily young audience. However, the psychological contours of the characters, their actions and their relationships are depicted in a way to discreetly mock some human characteristics that could be viewed with a critical eye - greed, dishonesty, naivety, etc. But all this is shown with benevolence and charm because our characters are more funny than evil.

A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR
The idea for the play “Swindlers” derived from the short story "Two Coins" from the collection of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić. The topic and basic characters were taken from this short story.  All of this was significantly expanded and enriched with new content, by profiling the characters and their relationships, and thus transformed into a dramatic form, with a tendency to develop a dynamic action and to give more plasticity and expressiveness to the characters, and to use their relationships to create comical and not always expected plot twists. It was the author’s path towards the final result, which is to be praised or criticised by the audience.
The motives of the story "Two Coins" were used in the past as an inspiration for dramatic variations. But it belongs to the history of literature.
The author wishes you to have a good time,
Мiladin Ševarlić
